In Scotland you cant travel too far without bumping into a distillery or 5 !! Even on the shorter North East 250 we have been able to create a 5,7, and 10 day itinerary to explore and experience the delights of Scottish Whisky.


With over 50 in Speyside alone, where you begin? Time it right and enjoy the wonders of the Spirit of Speyside Festival , which with so much happening probably merits a blog all of its own!! ( watch this space)


5-Day Itinerary: Exploring Whisky Distilleries on the North East 250


Day 1: Alness to Elgin

  • Start your journey in Alness and pick up your campervan.

  • Visit the Glen Ord Distillery for a tour and tasting.

  • Overnight at the Moray Firth Caravan and Camping Park in Elgin.

Day 2: Elgin to Speyside

  • Head to the Speyside region.

  • Tour the Macallan Distillery, famous for its single malt Scotch.

  • Visit Aberlour Distillery and enjoy a tasting session.

  • Camp for the night at Speyside by Craigellachie Caravan Park.

Day 3: Speyside Exploration

  • Spend the day exploring more Speyside distilleries like Glenfiddich and Balvenie.

  • Stop by the Speyside Cooperage to see how whisky casks are crafted.

  • Overnight at Aberlour Gardens Caravan Park.

Day 4: Speyside to Fraserburgh

  • Drive to Fraserburgh via the scenic route.

  • Tour the Glenglassaugh Distillery known for its coastal Scotch.

  • Enjoy the coastal views and fresh seafood in Fraserburgh.

  • Camp overnight at Fraserburgh Caravan Park.

Day 5: Fraserburgh to Aberdeen

  • Visit the GlenDronach Distillery for a tasting experience.

  • Head to Aberdeen and explore the city's whisky bars and shops.

  • Return your campervan and end your journey.

7-Day Itinerary: Extended Whisky Adventure on the North East 250

Day 1-3: Inverness to Speyside

  • Follow the Day 1 and Day 2 from the 5-day itinerary.

  • Spend an extra day exploring Speyside's distilleries and attractions.

  • Camp at Aberlour Gardens Caravan Park for the first three nights.

Day 4: Speyside to Fraserburgh

  • Follow Day 4 from the 5-day itinerary.

  • Camp overnight at Fraserburgh Caravan Park.

Day 5: Fraserburgh to Peterhead

  • Tour the Glen Garioch Distillery in Oldmeldrum.

  • Drive to Peterhead and explore the town.

  • Camp at Peterhead Lido Caravan Park.

Day 6: Peterhead to Banff

  • Visit the Glendronach Distillery.

  • Continue your journey to Banff and explore the coastal town.

  • Camp overnight at Deveron Valley Campsite.

Day 7: Banff to Aberdeen

  • Explore Banff further and visit nearby distilleries if desired.

  • Drive to Aberdeen, return your campervan, and enjoy the city's whisky bars.

10-Day Itinerary: Ultimate Whisky Experience on the North East 250

Day 1-3: Inverness to Speyside

  • Follow the Day 1 and Day 2 from the 5-day itinerary.

  • Spend an extra day exploring Speyside's distilleries and attractions.

  • Camp at Aberlour Gardens Caravan Park for the first three nights.

Day 4: Speyside to Fraserburgh

  • Follow Day 4 from the 5-day itinerary.

  • Camp overnight at Fraserburgh Caravan Park.

Day 5: Fraserburgh to Peterhead

  • Follow Day 5 from the 7-day itinerary.

  • Camp at Peterhead Lido Caravan Park.

Day 6-7: Peterhead to Banff and Beyond

  • Follow Day 6 and Day 7 from the 7-day itinerary.

  • Camp at Deveron Valley Campsite for two nights.

Day 8: Banff to Huntly

  • Tour the GlenDronach Distillery.

  • Visit the Glenglassaugh Distillery and enjoy the coastal scenery.

  • Camp overnight at Huntly Camping and Caravanning Club Site.

Day 9: Huntly to Dufftown

  • Explore Huntly, known for its historic attractions.

  • Drive to Dufftown, the heart of Speyside.

  • Tour distilleries such as Glenfiddich and Balvenie.

  • Camp at Dufftown Camping and Caravanning Club Site.

Day 10: Dufftown to Aberdeen

  • Visit the Macallan Distillery.

  • Drive to Aberdeen, return your campervan, and enjoy the city's whisky bars and shops.
